Both Mando and I woke up a little cranky. Maybe because we skipped/slept through dinner. Or maybe because with a detox, you’re also detoxing your emotions as well.
Either way, after bickering for a bit, we turned things around by letting each other cool off. Mando was off for a run and I was off to enjoy a Matcha elixir from work and do some writing.
When he returned from his run, he brought up the idea to head to the Farmers Market in Noe Valley. I was happily surprised that he wanted to go and we headed out after I got ready.
We talked about the temptations there might be at the market like delicious smelling food vendors but we also made a point to see the upside to this- not spending as much money since we couldn’t buy most foods. Interestingly enough however, as we came upon the market, we both noticed an organic, cold-pressed juice vendor. Good thing it’s on the list of YES foods!
I was excited to be able to get something while out. We shared a La Vampira juice juice comprised of beet, parsley, carrot, celery, citrus, ginger, cayenne. Then we picked up some pomegranates which I was excited to see because I couldn’t find any earlier in the week and after reading about their amazing benefits, I knew I needed them in my life. We also picked up some carrots, lettuce and some parsnips that caught my eye.
As soon as we got home I was back in our tiny kitchen deciding what to do with my parsnips. In the meantime, I made the avocado boats from Life-Changing Foods and they were great! Avocados have proven to be great snacks and in large enough quantities, meals.
It might seem like deprivation to some but it’s not deprivation when you learn the result of what you’ve been eating for years (see my Day One blog post for symptoms I want to alleviate.) And I feel like I’ve eaten enough cheeseburgers for one lifetime. What’s 28 days?
You might say that we’re gonna die anyway so eat what you want.
For me, I’d just rather live happier, and when I’m healthier, I’m happier.

Why eat these specific foods? Here are some of the reasons I have chosen to add these foods into our diets in as large a quantity as possible.
*information from Life-Changing Foods by Anthony William.
Avocado-Great for skin, memory loss, depression, premenstrual symptoms, eye floaters. Also great if you feel like you’re not living life as your true self. Avocados help us find our way back to ourselves when we need emotional strength and connection and when we need to heal a broken heart. They’re also a pivotal tool when you’re struggling with guilt, shame or remorse.
*Recomended 1-2 daily
Wild Blueberries-Great for everything! Literally any symptom or illness can be helped by wild berries. Not regular blueberries but wild blueberries. Aside from their dozens of antioxidants, wild berries are one of the most effective heavy metal detoxing foods against radiation, toxic heavy metals, viruses & DDT. This is the food you want in your life when you’ve been through the unthinkable and need the support to rise up again.
Raw Honey-Good for twitches, eye floaters, memory issues, bacterial gut infections, allergies, parasites, colds, influenza, sore throat, postnasal drip, inflammation, sleep disturbances, dry skin, loss of libido. If you could face your family lines back to their oldest days, you would find ancestors who subsisted on honey. Raw honey was not a survival food in the sense that it simply got people by until something better came along. Rather, it was and still is, incredible medicinal nourishment. Connecting with honey puts us back in touch with ourselves.
Cauliflower-Contains the trace mineral boron, which is known to help the endocrine system (hypothalamus and adrenal glands) and the thyroid to stave off viruses behind thryoiditis. It’s easily digested in its raw state which gives you full potential to obtain its benefits. Good for adrenal fatigue, depression, mold exposure, acne, anxiety, eczema, urinary tract infections, fatigue. Great for supporting anyone mired in confusion. If you’ve ever felt stranded or alone left by someone who you once took care off and given everything you’ve had, then cruciferous vegetables are for you.

Cauliflower ‘Rice’-Cauliflower pulsed in food processor until rice-like, then sautéed with onions, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, green onion, cayenne pepper topped with cilantro w/ steamed Eggplant and Tahini dressing *Cauli ‘rice’ recipe below
Bananas-Great for PTSD, depression, sleep disorders, bruising. Bananas strengthen the core of who we are, encouraging us to peel back our false shields and expose our true selves.
Onions-Great for your immune system and for addressing colds and flus. If you’d like your skin to look younger or if you used to be a smoker and you’d like to repair damage to your lungs, it’s a great idea to eat onions daily. If you’re out to eat somewhere and worried about the dish you’re eating carrying any cold or flu viruses or you’re worried about food poisoning, top it with raw onions to help stave of any bacteria. If you get chilly easily, have difficulty warming up, always have to wear a sweater, and/or struggle with cold hangs and feet, try to incorporate con ions into your daily routine to increase circulation.
I looooved this Garlic Tahini Salad Dressing so much I’m gonna share it with you! It’s a great way to try to cut down on dipping sauces filled with dairy and bad ingredients.
1/4 cup raw tahini
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves
2 medium dates (or 1 large), pitted
1/2 cup filtered or fresh spring water
Blend all ingredients in food processor until smooth and pour over salads, use for dipping with raw veggies or with roasted roots like my herb-roasted parsnips above.
